Science

Intent

“If it’s green or wriggles, it’s biology. If it stinks, it’s chemistry. If it doesn’t work, it’s physics!”

Science offers opportunities for curiosity, wonder, and critical thinking. Our aim is to reignite a love for learning by helping students make sense of the world and explore how everything around us works. We empower students to ask questions about the world we live in and seek deeper understanding, building the foundations for further learning and future careers.

Our curriculum is designed to develop a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and physics, progressing from basic principles to more complex concepts as students move through each year group. We ensure students embed key vocabulary, concepts, and understanding into their long-term memory, preparing them for success in future education and beyond. We create an inclusive and supportive environment, where all students—including those with special educational needs and disadvantaged backgrounds—can thrive through a growth mindset and resilient attitude toward learning.

In addition to academic knowledge, we connect science to real-world applications, helping students understand its role in everyday life and the wider world. Through STEM opportunities and practical experiences, we encourage students to develop a lifelong curiosity about the natural world, empowering them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in both future studies and the world of work.
